Seychelles car hire requirements are partly country-wide and partly specific to the vehicle. Start with your licence, age and experience, then check the collection card and the everyday responsibilities that come with the car. Choosing an eligible offer is as important as choosing a model you like.
Are you eligible for the selected car?
The driver’s minimum age and driving experience appear on each car’s page. Those requirements can vary even for similar models. Filter the airport hire offers around your circumstances rather than assuming one minimum applies to the entire search.
The rental agent can refuse to provide the service if the driver does not meet the particular car’s age or experience requirements. Finding a vehicle you like is therefore only the first step. Confirm that the named driver qualifies before paying the advance.
A model you hired elsewhere may carry different conditions in this booking. Judge the actual offer, not a previous trip or another provider’s policy. If the driver’s circumstances do not fit the displayed requirements, choose an eligible vehicle instead of relying on discretion at collection.
What licence must you carry?
You need a valid national driving licence with its details repeated in Latin script. It must remain valid until at least the final day of the rental. Check the expiry date against your planned return, including any extension you are considering.
Copies and electronic licences are not accepted under the country conditions. Pack the original document rather than relying on a phone image or a digital version. The original document is required at collection.
If the licence is valid only in the country of issue, the terms strongly recommend including an International Driving Permit among your documents and providing it on request. The original national licence remains required.

What needs to match the main driver?
A required physical embossed credit card must be issued in the main driver’s name. If the company accepts a debit card for the offer, that card must be physical, personalised, embossed and issued in the main driver’s name too.
Check the card wording during booking and in the voucher. A named-main-driver requirement means the card must belong to that driver. Bring the physical card that satisfies the selected offer.
The advance and accepted-card rules cover separate stages. The balance and any security deposit at pickup follow the selected car’s payment conditions.
How should the company be able to reach you?
The contact phone number you provide must include the correct country code and remain available on the day before pickup and throughout the rental. Use a number that will reach you during the stay rather than a contact you will leave behind.
Keep the confirmation email and rental company’s contact details accessible. The booking rules direct questions about the vehicle’s condition and the rental service to the company’s managers, whose details are supplied after the booking is completed.
For a flight arrival, your collection preparations at SEZ should include the actual meeting instructions. If the appointment changes, coordinate it with the rental company. The company provides the meeting arrangements for the reservation.
What are your responsibilities during the hire?
Use only paved public roads and keep the vehicle on its home island. Those restrictions apply to the car’s use regardless of its shape or class. A journey to another island needs a separate transport plan and, if required, another car booking.
The renter pays for fuel, parking and any fines incurred during the hire. These costs sit alongside the rental price.
Only small pets may travel in the rented car, and they must stay in their travel carriers at all times. If you are planning to travel with an animal, check that the arrangement complies before choosing the vehicle.
Understand your duties after an insured event. The agent must be notified immediately and a police report obtained, except as otherwise agreed with the agent. Failing those conditions invalidates the insurance issued for the car.
What should you prepare for the return?
Return the car with the same fuel level as at collection. If it is lower, the rental company charges the difference at its own rates. If it is higher, you are not compensated for the extra fuel. Plan around the recorded starting level rather than assuming a full-to-full policy.
A car returned so dirty that its inspection is hindered will be washed at the customer’s expense. This condition concerns the ability to inspect the vehicle. Do not leave the return until the last moment if you need time to address its condition.
If you want more time with the vehicle, notify the rental agent in advance. The minimum chargeable period is twenty-four hours, and a booking that extends into another day is charged as another full day. Enter realistic times from the beginning and agree any later extension.
The rental company confirms the return appointment and handover location for your booking. An agreed extension requires advance notice to that company.

Must the licence remain valid for the whole hire?
Yes. Its expiry date must be no earlier than the end of the rental period, and its details must be repeated in Latin script.
Can a small pet travel in the car?
The country terms allow only small pets, kept in their travel carriers at all times.
Will unused extra fuel be refunded?
No. The terms require the same fuel level at return and do not compensate for a higher level. A lower level is charged at the rental company’s rates.
